Lost in the Jungle!!
Hi family!
After ages lost in the jungle, and six months of hard work now on my shoulders, I have to admitt that I'm starting to understand why on earth Birmingham is such a boring place most of the time. It's not because the city doesn't have possibilities, much the opposite, it's more that some narrow-minded anti-money anti-marketing individuals in charge of the last four venues that still stand on their foot are just playing their roles. For the sake of the truth I have to say that they don't even know how to manage an e-mail account!!
And in the benefit of the truth I have to say as well that this doesn't happen in Birmingham alone. Sadly you can find it everywhere in the country.
The music business in the United Kingdom is among the most important industries, generating revenues second to none. That's why I think I revolution is needed. A drastic change in mentalities that, as some venues have already proven, can be much more beneficial not only for the industry, but for the pockets of venue owners, artists and promoters. It seems that some parts of the industry are evolving at the speed of light, while others stay stuck in old convinctions (if any convinction at all).
A revolution similar to that one, when parties had to be promoted in wharehouses. Those young promoters and ravers are now in charge of the venues, but they don't look like remembering anything from those years.
The history is repeating again: it happened to the hippies, to the punks, and everybody fighting the system... and then getting the most out of it.

Cool!
Hey, we got a really big one last Thursday. Anni B Sweet and Becky Rose were BIG. It seems that some of you lost the step in the last minute, next time you will have to be fit, things happen just once!
Thank you to Anni and Becky, they were amazingly professional. Thank you everybody who was there, you are History now!

How to get your free pass for the concert of Anni B Sweet on 10th June:
1. Sign up typing your e-mail at the form on the right side of this page (You will become a member of the Bright Lights Big Party group and will receive our newsletter only if you want to. We won't mess with your e-mail address and you can unsubscribe whenever you want)
2. You will be sent a flyer to your e-mail address. Print the flyer.
3. Bring the flyer and two friends the date of the concert and you will pass for free.
4. Have fun!
Please note that your friends will pay the standard rate. Student discounts apply. If you have previously bought your ticket on-line, we will give you your money back on the door the day of the concert. No flyer AND/OR no friends and you will pay the standard rate. It's no big deal anyway.

Anni B Sweet, a folk singer songwriter since the age of seven from Malaga, Spain had an astonishing 2009. It was the year she signed to Subterfuge Records, the biggest indie label in Spain and played at Benicàssim Festival and abroad without even having an album out. She was also voted Sensation of the Year by readers of El País online (Spain’s biggest newspaper) and was nominated for a number of prestigious music awards.
